Wickford Yacht Club, founded in 1963, is located in a picturesque, strategic harbor in Narragansett bay. It was from this harbor that New Yorkers completed the final leg of their journey to Newport for the summer season aboard the steamship The General.
If you are interested in membership, please contact Karen Pizzaruso, our membership chair, for more information and to schedule a visit. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prospective members will be asked to participate in at least two activities such as social events or TGIF gatherings and be sponsored by two members.
After all requirements are fufilled, the WYC board of governors will consider the membership application and participate in a vote for full membership.
The Wickford Yacht Club provides an opportunity to meet others who share the love of the water, boating, and a dedication to a volunteer organization dependent on members to organize the Club's activities and maintain its heritage. All members are expected to contribute their time to help with boating and social events and to participate in the bi-annual work weekends. In exchange, the Club provides a full calendar of cruising, racing, and social events and offers a clubhouse that boasts unparalleled views of the bay.
Many clubs have reciprocal privileges with the Wickford Yacht Club. Although our bylaws stipulate that we must maintain a balance of members who are boat owners, we don't have slips, so ownership isn't a requirement.
The club offers adult sailing instruction and refresher courses as well as our sailing programs for juniors, from beginners through junior racing programs.
All of us - the young families, singles, couples, empty nesters, and retirees - hope you'll join us!
